BRETT BEAN

Brett Bean
"Grew up in and around Seattle Washington where I only had enough money to go to a local 3D animation school and not a major art school in California like I desperately wanted to at the time. I made the most of the experience and got work as a 3D environment artist. After working at Sony for years I asked if I could break up my time between visual development and 3D work. They said no, they didn’t want to lose me as a 3D asset. I always wanted to be a character designer so I told them I had to quit. They actually thought I was bluffing and offered me a lot of money to stay, way more than I’d ever seen. It was the scariest/best decision ever that, after only 2 months of marriage, my wife and I packed up and moved to California so I could take art classes at Gnomon school of visual FX. With no real money I had to work at a GameStop selling my own games I had just made to people and intern at the school. I started the entire process over again and this time I did it ON PURPOSE. But out of all things to prepare me for my career and subsequent choices, that moment was the most influential. Hard work and diligence will pay off for me. Follow the passion and the dream."

STEVIE RAY

"I was born in Palmdale, California. Growing up, I enjoyed watching my share of Bugs Bunny cartoons, Disney movies, and let’s not forget … Sailor Moon! I got my start in art through my fascination with Japanese animation. That was when I really started to draw and experiment with Photoshop and online paint programs. But I realized that people in the animation industry weren’t supportive of anime. So, I decided to change my approach and channel my passion toward animation."

JULIA SARDA

"Julia Sarda is an illustrator, concept artist and character designer based in Barcelona.
She has a wonderful, lively style, a superb sense of color and a great feeling for visual drama. She also demonstrates a masterful command of dark and light in her compositions. She also plays with theatrical spotlight effects and uplighting to great effect.
I particularly admire the way she can combine crisp flat edged planes of color with more rendered and textural elements within the same image and make is feel like a seamless whole."

JOHN WATKISS

John Watkiss
"John Watkiss has created visual development art for films like Disney’s Tarzan, Treasure Planet, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Fantasia 2000, Skycaptain and the World of Tomorrow and the proposed Sandman. In his movie related career he has done work for Twentieth Century Fox, Dreamworks, Francis Ford Coppola and Ridley Scott Associates.

Watkiss has also had a career as a comic book artist, doing covers and interiors for D.C., Marvel and UK publishers on titles like Batman, Conan, Deadman and Sandman.

If that isn’t enough, Watkiss also is a gallery artist. His subjects are frequently images of women painted in a modern style but in costume and compositions influenced by Victorian painting."
