DANIEL DOCIU

Daniel Dociu
"Daniel Dociu was raised in Cluj, the capital of Transylvania in Romania. After studying art and architecture, he got his Masters in Industrial Design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cluj. He moved to the USA in 1990 after spending two years in Athens, Greece, and he has lived in the Seattle area since 1991.
After working as a toy designer for two years, Dociu wisely jumped ship to interactive entertainment. “I’ve been working as an Art Director in the games industry ever since,” says Dociu, “for companies like Squaresoft, Electronic Arts (twice!), and Zipper Interactive. I have done consulting for Microsoft and freelance work for Wizards of the Coast, Digital Anvil as well as a fair share of small developers who have come and gone.” For the past five years, Daniel Dociu has been with ArenaNet, a fully owned subsidiary of NCSoft, in an art director and lead concept artist role. More recently he's stepped into the Chief Art Director role for NCsoft, overseeing visual development for all of NCsoft's North American projects, with particular focus on ArenaNet's Guild Wars 2."

CHRIS BERENS

"Chris Berens studied illustration at the Academy of Art and Design in Os-Hertogenbosch, graduating in 1999.
While working as a freelance illustrator and animator, he set up his studios in several semi-abandoned buildings in the countryside near his hometown.
He developed a complex and time consuming painting technique as a way to achieve the result he aimed: with the initial idea for a new work, Chris paints every detail over and over on the coated layer of a glossy paper. All his works are hand painted using ink and different types of varnish. He then cuts out fragments, separates the coating layer from the underlying paper, and stacks and unifies them on a larger panel into one image. He keeps on doing so until the image has reached its destination."

JIN YOUNG YU

Jin Young Yu
"Yu Jinyoung portrays truth and illusions of a family with a house, the hideaway of these people, as a background. The artist's previous work expresses a portrait of humans trapped in a society, and she has moved the meeting of her work into a fence called as home. Through everyday lives of family in very limited space called home, the inner world of family is closely examined."
