Japanese Castle Explorer
"The towers of a Japanese castle have been noted for their grace, strength & fagility. They were highly evolved structures and well suited to their roles but ultimately, the relative weakness of the primary material used in their construction - wood, has seen a great number lost over the years.
War was a major cause for these buildings to be reduced to rubble but this hasn't been their only threat. Disasters, both natural & man-made, have plagued them and sent them crashing to the ground in spectacular fashion. Much more ignominiously, a great many towers & turrets were simply sold off as scrap or just torn down."
