Iszka utazása
The story follows the plight of a young girl as she is passed from pillar to post in her fight for survival. Born into extreme poverty, Iska is soon sent out to earn which she does by scrabbling over rubbish dumps, searching for scrap metal. Whatever money she does manage to bring in buys booze for her alcoholic parents and she is left to beg food from local miners. Spotted collecting coal from the slagheaps, she and her little sister are taken into care, but the love she has for her abusive home pulls her back out onto the streets, where she daydreams about running away to the seaside. With her sick sister left behind, and a new friend on her side, she is just about to leave when things go wrong, and she finds herself on a ship at sea, the unwitting victim of "people traffickers" bound for foreign shores.
Maria Varga plays a role almost identical to her own life and her childish naivety and vitality lend a tragic charm to this portrayal of life on the fringes of the continents.

ma petite note: I saw this film at the hungarian institute, here there was the director and the actress ( the doctor of the institute ), lovely persons. They told us the hard life of these childs ( the film shows the truth as it really is in Rumania ). One thing had impression to me: the sisters participated at the festival but they wasn't attract to this "shining world" and to the compliments of "great actors" like Jeremy Irons.
