JOSE GERARLDO REIS PFAU

"Jose Geraldo Reis Pfau`s hobby (57 years old), born and raised in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, is a collection of pieces of art made of motorcycle miniatures. The inspiration for the sculptures came from other similar pieces of art. He started this project using regular keys, developing motorcycle images. Through research in publications and web sites he got to know of other artists who have been working on a similar project. There are wonderful pieces of work made of wood, potery, screws, wires, but the ones identified exclusively with pieces of watches and glasses seem to be something new."

TOMOHIRO INABA

"The modernist sculptor Tomohiro Inaba creates heavy substantial pieces of steel that look as if they could dissipate in a second, the steel just about to float away from us. The transience in which his skulls evoke is similar to the popular use of skulls in 17th century still life painting. In the 1600’s artists use skulls as a ‘memento mori’ to warn the viewer of the painting that life is short and to not indulge in the material aspects of life; the notion is ironic considering a painting is in fact a luxurious material of life."

MULLANIUM

Mullanium
"Jim Mullan is a self-taught artist who grew up in Southern California with an enthusiasm for nature and history.  As a teenager he became intrigued with old watches, vintage toys, and scientific instruments.  In the process of taking things apart and putting them back together, he began pairing some of the old pieces with his favorite things found in nature, such as, bird, dragonfly and animal components to create one of a kind mixed media jewelry and assemblages. In  1980, Jim exhibited at his first art show in Florida and enjoyed it so much that he decided to set up shop in Pompano Beach.  Shortly thereafter he began exhibiting full time in juried art shows across the country."

AJ FOSIK

"AJ Fosik was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. In 2003, he received a BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design in New York. In the years since, Fosik has lived in various cities across the country including Denver, Brooklyn and Philadelphia. He is currently based in Portland, Oregon.

Fosik’s artwork explores the powerful medium of language and metaphor to emphasize narrative and interpretation. Using wood and found materials, he creates figural, eclectic and intricately designed three-dimensional works that intrigue and provoke. Fosik’s animal subjects and anthropomorphized beings are built using a complex process in which each form is carefully handcrafted by arranging hundreds of pieces of individually cut and varnished wood, which the artist paints in vibrant colors and patterns. Sharp teeth, claws, and eyes emerge once the creatures are completed—some are constructed as freestanding forms while others are wall-mounted, referencing modern taxidermy practices. Evocative of American Folk Art and inspired by subversive cultural influences that shift complacency, Fosik’s work suspends comfort with the appeal of familiar symbols and images. In this dynamic tension, the art and viewer come together in an expanded definition of culture and assumption."

ELLEN JUNE

"Born in Markham, Ontario Canada, Jewett’s interest in shaping three dimensional forms began at a young age. A self-taught sculptor, Jewett has a degree in Biological Anthropology and Art Critique from McMaster University in Ontario. Sculpting with only her hands, Ellen’s inspiration comes from her relationships with plants and animals and a fascination with the images of science and discovery. Working with polymer clay, home-made foam clay, and other mediums, Jewett creates a world of fantastical dragons, birds, elephants, and other creatures with incredible detail and intricacy. Jewett recently exhibited at Anticipation – the 67th World Science Fiction Convention in Montreal and will also show at the Guelph Studio Tour in Ontario, Canada from October 16th – 18th 2009."

SHINTARO OHATA

Shintaro Ohata
"This Hiroshima, Japan-born artist is known for his ability to show us everyday life in a cinematic way. He captures light in his paintings, showering the world, as we know it, with carefully placed strokes of it. "Every ordinary scenery in our daily lives, such as the rising sun, the beauty of a sunset or a glittering road paved with asphalt on a rainy night, becomes something irreplaceable if we think we wouldn’t be able to see them anymore," he told Yukari gallery. "I am creating works to capture lights in our everyday life and record them in the painting."
More than that, this artist has a unique style. He places sculptures in front of paintings! Combining 2D with 3D, he's an emerging young artist who's definitely one to watch."

Greg Brotherton
"Born in Ames, Iowa, in 1968, Greg experienced a somewhat nomadic childhood, spending the majority of his youth in Utah and Colorado. His interest in the mechanical surfaced at age five, when he began disassembling anything with screws in it. By the age of twelve he had taught himself to mine his backyard with homemade explosives (no injuries!). Then, after being successfully ejected from a series of public and private learning institutions, Greg, equivalency test in hand, entered the Colorado Academy of Art, beginning his undergraduate studies at sixteen."

CYRIL ROQUELAINE

Cyril Roquelaine
"Since my earliest age the figure of heroic fantasy in the field of role play and wargame interested me. It is this passion that I was prompted to make the sculpture self-taught.

I already have experience in teamwork through the scenery in the theatre du Capitole in Toulouse, and various works of sculpture models in the field of cinema and short animation in computer graphics . I was also able to sculpt on different scales as comics figures of 56 mm, up armor from latex for role-playing fantastic size. Having notions molding silicone, I also gained some understanding of the model in order to be molded. I was also able to use different materials such as modelling plastiline, super sculpey, land, resin…

I now work for companies figurine, individuals for personal orders, companies in need of models and prototypes in 3D".

ENCLINE DESIGNS

"Many people have various hobbies, all of which make a connection to a time in their lives that made them feel something good. Or maybe it represents a time in their lives when they had to overcome an impossible obstacle and the hobby helped them make it through.
This is what I do. I capture emotions, a story, if you will, from a time in your life and put that into the figures I build, in the art I create. This is not a privilege I take lightly. Each and every custom figure I make is as unique as the client, who displays it proudly amongst their collection.
Thank you so much for taking your time to look at my work. To my clients I am truly grateful, many of which continue to return for more.
Thank you and welcome to eNcliNe desigNs!"

JOSHUA PENNINGS

"I am Joshua Pennings, professional metal artist. Educated in creativity, self-educated in the technical side of metalworking. As a modern blacksmith I create metal sculptures. Powerfull animals and fantasy-creatures are often returning themes in my work. Movement like flying and traveling is also seen a lot in my statues. Often I get inspired by the material, but mostly it is my imagination from which the pieces arise."

YONG HO JI

Yong Ho Ji
"Korean sculptor Yong Ho Ji has mastered a medium most artists wouldn't even dare think about using....tires. The exquisite level of anatomical detail he can achieve by gluing and screwing all types of tires onto his resin-cast skeletons is, in and of itself, a true feat of engineering. Every muscle and facial expression you see on these animals was created with a surgeon's-like precision."

AJ FOSIK

Aj Fosik
"Ok, I am AJ Fosik. I'm originally from the post-industrial blight known as South East Michigan. I currently live in Phila, PA. Right now I primarily work with wood though I hesitate to use the term sculpture. I've been making three-dimensional wood constructions for about 5 years now and I think I'm starting to get the hang of it."
