ANCIENT SCRIPTS

Ancient Scripts
"Back in 1996, I created the original Ancient Scripts web site during the wee hours of the morning. I have been a great enthusiast for writing systems and linguistics in general, but I could only find meager resources on the web about this subject in those early days. So I went to work, taking class material from Linguistics 11 (Writing Systems) at University of California at Berkeley as well as my own research in dusty libraries. Many years later, despite problems with servers and having to earn a living, Ancient Scripts is still running. Thanks for all your support!
The aim of Ancient Scripts is not to replace texts books or instructional web sites. Instead, it is designed to give an introduction to writing systems, which hopefully will tantalize the reader into searching for more information on the web or in books and publications.
Here's the disclaimer: I am not a linguist. It's my hobby (even though it consumes a lot of my time). I've been a computer scientist since the age of 8, and that's what I do to make a living."

COPYRIGHT

Copyright Advisory Office
"The Copyright Advisory Office (CAO) was established at Columbia University in January 2008, and its mission will surely evolve in the coming years. Its central function, however, is to address in an innovative, creative, and pragmatic manner the relationship between copyright law and the work of the university community. In all of our research, teaching, and service, we are constantly creating and using a rich variety of materials that are protected under copyright law. Because of the expansive and automatic application of modern copyright law, questions about ownership, management, and fair use of protected works frequently arise at the university. The CAO offers guidance and educational services to help the wider community address copyright issues in furtherance of the university’s information objectives"

FRANCAIS INTERACTIF

"was developed at the University of Texas at Austin in the Department of French and Italian. A result of over ten years of collaboration between academic and technical professionals, it was funded and created by the UT Liberal Arts Instruction Technology Services and is currently supported by the Center for Open Educational Resources and Language Learning (a National Foreign Language Resource Center), and the U.S. Department of Education Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education. (FIPSE Grant P116B070251).

The ultimate goal of the new learning community website is to improve both the textbook and online materials and share pedagogical best practices. A cast of thousands has contributed to Français interactif: students on the UT study abroad program in Lyon and in our classrooms in Austin, graduate students and faculty, programmers, artists, technicians, native French speakers in France and Austin, and teachers and learners all over the world."

We hope that you, too, will become a part of the Fi community and use the new forum to post your experiences teaching and learning with Français interactif. Bienvenue!
